This qualification is assessed through an internally assessed portfolio of evidence and an externally set and assessed extended assessment. Learners must have access to employment or work experience in a real work setting, with 600-700 hours required to develop skills and knowledge at Level 3. This ensures competence for the Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Care Learning and Development (Northern Ireland).

Learners must be 16+ with at least 12 GCSE points, including English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above. An Access NI check and successful interview are required. Access to a regulated setting with children aged 0-5 years 11 months is necessary.
