This course empowers you to begin studying counselling from the comfort of your home. You will grow your knowledge of the skills needed to become a competent counsellor and develop a wider knowledge of the counselling field.
Introduction To Counselling Level 2 will teach you about the differences between character and personality and how behaviour is driven by this. You will discover the key counselling methods and the personality compass and study the theory of emotional intelligence and its relevance in counselling
Learn as and when it suits you and complete this course (80 hours approximate) at your own pace submitting coursework to your tutor by post or email when completed. All materials for this course will be delivered to you by post or email.
Unit 1: Delivers an introduction to counselling and covers; what counselling is how to encourage self-reflection and develop self awareness and explores the TRACTICS model.
Unit 2: Explores transactional analysis and the three states then examines taking control of the parent and child
Unit 3: Delves into the meaning of personality and MBTI elements of personality. You will explore thinking and feeling, sensing and intuition and compare introversion with extraversion as well as uncovering the concept of trying to be someone else.
Unit 4: Focuses on character and counselling. You will learn what character is; discover the character compass and the four key drivers of it. Study Inner conflict and how it is resolved. The impact of life events on character will be explored and issues about character will be explained. An insight into guardians, adventurers, warriors and sages will be gained.
Unit 5: The five domains of emotional intelligence are explored. This module also focuses on self awareness, empathy for others and social skills. You will examine how to manage emotions and the effects of emotions on judgements as well as how to motivate yourself.
Unit 6: Focuses on the practise of counselling and covers getting to know a client, and the counselling journey as well as you as a counsellor. You will study acting with integrity and ask don’t tell and examine challenge and support.
Our Introduction To Counselling Level 2 certificate is assessed by a series of written assignments. No external examination is required.
No previous knowledge of counselling is required for this course.
At the end of this course you will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards, one of the largest UK awarding bodies (your certificate will also list all of the modules completed as part of your course as an appendix).
