Gain the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety through flexible online study. This respected qualification is particularly suitable for people responsible for fire safety in low- to medium-risk workplaces, including health and safety managers, facilities managers and workplace safety representatives.
Through focused study materials and practical application, you will develop an understanding of fire and explosion protection, fire-prevention principles and workplace fire-safety responsibilities. You will learn how to identify fire hazards, recommend appropriate control measures and carry out an effective fire-risk assessment.
The qualification combines a scenario-based online open-book examination with a practical fire-risk assessment. Whether you are beginning to develop fire-safety responsibilities or looking to formalise your existing knowledge, the course provides a strong technical foundation for further professional development.
Upon successful completion, you will be entitled to apply for Associate Membership of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) and use the AIIRSM post-nominal.

Both assessments are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH. Learners must complete and pass both assessments to achieve the qualification.
Assessment registration is arranged through the learner’s accredited NEBOSH Learning Partner. Learners should check their selected course package to confirm whether assessment registration fees are included.
FSC1 is completed remotely on a scheduled assessment date. The Learning Partner will provide learners with the relevant instructions and submission information for FSC2.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, and previous fire-safety knowledge or experience is not mandatory.
Learners must have a suitable standard of English to understand and explain the concepts covered in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends English-language ability equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher.
The awarding organisation for this qualification is the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH). After successfully completing both mandatory assessments, you will receive the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety.
You will receive comprehensive online study materials and tutor guidance throughout your studies. Up to twelve months of tutor support is available, allowing you to progress at your own pace within the applicable course-access and support period.
