Qualification Title: NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety
The qualification has two mandatory assessment components:
FSC1: Online open-book examination
FSC2: Practical fire-risk assessment
The syllabus covers the following six mandatory elements:
Element 1: Managing fire safety
Element 2: Principles of fire and explosion
Element 3: Fuel, oxygen and ignition sources and control measures
Element 4: Fire protection of buildings
Element 5: Safety of people in the event of fire
Element 6: Fire safety risk assessment
This qualification has two mandatory assessment components:
Both assessments are marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH. Learners must complete and pass both assessments to achieve the qualification.
Assessment registration is arranged through the learner’s accredited NEBOSH Learning Partner. Open Study College offers Course Only and Course Material + Exams packages, so learners should check their selected package to confirm whether assessment registration fees are included.
FSC1 is completed remotely, and the Learning Partner will provide learners with the relevant FSC2 submission information.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, and previous fire-safety knowledge or experience is not mandatory.
Learners must have a suitable standard of English to understand and explain the concepts covered in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends English-language ability equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher.
The awarding organisation for this qualification is the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH). After successfully completing both mandatory assessments, you will receive the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety.

Yes, you must pass the exams and coursework to gain your A Level. There is a separate fee for these, which are paid directly to the 3rd party exam centre at time of booking.
